Vevo Halloween

Vevo Halloween, welcomed over 3,000 music-lovers to Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock.

With a theme of “phobias”, Vevo Halloween’s 12,000 sqm site witnessed ‘spooktacular’ fancy dress and frightfully brilliant performances from some of 2016’s biggest names, including Jack Garratt, Izzy Bizu and Blossoms.

Vevo is best known as an online video hosting service, but stepping into the live events arena the company contracted Symphotech to support its commitment and responsibility to run a safe event. Company director, Julian Spear, was on hand throughout the event, acting as Silver control during the show. The team was also responsible for constructing a full safety plan and a fire risk assessment, attending SAG meetings and liaising directly with the local council to ensure all parties were kept informed of the latest developments. Symphotech was also on hand throughout the build to monitor CDM regulations and carry out due diligence on all the contractors attending the site.

Julian comments: “Vevo took a very professional approach in delivering this Halloween event which made it a pleasure to work on. It was an interesting show to be involved in as the primary function was to film the live show, with a small invited audience of around 3,000. The production values were extremely high and the resulting films are excellent.

“The main challenge of this event was that the chosen venue was an old warehouse on the docks, which was perfect for the event; however it is still used as an existing timber store. The show was built into one of the three sheds but the timber yard was still operational until show day. The amount of timber storage staying on site presented major concerns for the fire department and a great deal of work had to be done on fire control systems in order to satisfy their concerns. We worked closely with all parties involved in bringing this event to life, and the resulting event was a great success.”
